About me
I have a passion for drawing portraits, particularly of animals. My focus is mainly on the animals of Africa, a beautiful, lively, and vibrant continent that I proudly call home.
I am dedicated to drawing what my heart and soul love, and I've compiled a bucket list of animals I want to capture. This list includes the favorites, the ordinary, the threatened, the peculiar, the outcasts, and the unnoticed.
My passion for drawing stems from a need to recharge and escape from my immediate surroundings. By drawing "life," I stay connected on my own terms. There's something incredibly fulfilling about spending hours with a subject, absorbing every little detail. Especially dogs—it's as if I get to know each one personally, so much so that I believe I could recognize that exact dog anywhere.
Drawing time is my sanctuary, a necessary means to daydream and contemplate important aspects of everyday life.
Initially, I enjoyed drawing human portraits in graphite. Gradually, my first love—animals—took precedence. If someone asks me what I draw, I instantly answer, "Anything, as long as it has eyes!" To me, the eyes are what truly bring a drawing to life.
Seeking to overcome the limitations of graphite and my own subtle technique, I explored alternatives and fell in love with Faber-Castell oil-based pencils, while still working in grayscale. Black and white drawings reflected my personality for a long time, but as I evolved, so did my drawings.
In August 2022, I gifted myself a full set of 120 Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils and began experimenting with colored backgrounds using Pan Pastel. Now, I enjoy creating both monochromatic and full-color drawings in pastel pencils.
